Shortly after these tweets, the official account for Pepsi made their own tweet with a picture that featured both artists, and the NFL also gave confirmation.
The Super Bowl will take place on February 2, 2020 in Miami Gardens, Florida at the Hard Rock Stadium, which also happens to be on Shakira’s birthday.
“I’m so honored to be taking on one of the world’s biggest stages in the company of a fellow female artist to represent Latinos and Latinas from the U.S. and all over the world.” Shakira said… “This is a true American dream and we are going to bring the show of a lifetime!”
This will be the first time the 42 year-old singer will be sharing the stage with 50 year-old pop star, Jennifer Lopez.
“Ever since I saw Diana Ross fly off into the sky at the Halftime Show, I dreamed of performing at the Super Bowl,” Lopez said in a statement. “And now it’s made even more special not only because it’s the NFL’s 100th anniversary, but also because I am performing with a fellow Latina. I can’t wait to show what us girls can do on the world’s biggest stage.”
Todd Kaplan, Vice President and Marketing for Pepsi noted, “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Jennifer Lopez and Shakira to the stage. These two remarkable artists are setting a new precedent for what this show can become, and we’re confident that this will be an incredible performance for the ages.”
Lopez and Shakira will be following the footsteps of the most recent Pepsi Halftime Show performers such as Maroon 5, Big Boi, Travis Scott, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Coldplay.
