Here we go the biggest football game of the year, the Super Bowl. This year being the 53rd will feature out of the AFC the New England Patriots who defeated the Los Angeles Chargers, and Kansas City Chiefs. From the NFCthe Los Angeles Rams who defeated the Dallas Cowboys, and New Orleans Saints to make it to a 2001 Super Bowl rematch. Hard to say who the favorite is here, as the Rams had a better record, but the Patriots have vastly more playoff/Super Bowl experience. Only 1 can win, so will it be the wily veterans or the spunky youth. Here’s how the Championship game would play out.
The first team to score in this one would be the Patriots on a 42 yard field goal by Stephan Gostkowski making it 3-0. The score would come in the second quarter as the first was scoreless with Gostkowski missing from 46 yards in the first. That is the first time a kicker has missed a field goal ever in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. This would be the only score in the half making it tied for the lowest scoring half in Super Bowl history. Even still New England had more points than Los Angeles had first downs in the half. Drastic changes would be needed for the Rams offence if they had any hope of winning this contest in the second half.
The game would remain 3-0 for most of the 3rd. In
The stats on offence were lacklustre at best for both sides as this was the first Super Bowl in NFL history to have no touchdowns through 3 quarters. Tom Brady had a decent game going 21/35 for 262 yards and 1 interception. Jared Goff for the Rams had a poor showing going just 19/38 for 229 yards and 1 interception. Arguably the best offensive performance came from Sony Michel who had 18 carries for 94 yards, and the games only touchdown. On the Ramsside Todd Gurley had the most ground production with just 35 yards on 10 carries. Top receiver of the game was Julian Edelman by a mile who had 10 catches for 141 yards. It would be a different story for Brandin Cooks if he hauled in the 2 end-zone passes, but he still had 120 yards on 8 catches. This wasn’t the best kicker game as Stephan Gostkowski went 2/3, and Greg Zuerlein went 1/2.

So there you have it, the New England Patriots are the 2018-19 Super Bowl Champions. It’s the franchises 6th titlewhich is tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most all time. The final thing to settle was the MVP, which went to Julian Edelman this year who had a great game despite not scoring a point. We’ll be back next year to see who else will write their chapter in the NFL annuls for Super Bowl 54.
